Fire Alarms

Based on your Fire Risk Assessment and our free survey, Firefly can design your fire detection and alarm system, install it and hand it over with a comprehensive Fire Warden training and Fire Warden Kit. This even comes with a FREE fire mobile phone for confirmation of an alarm to guard against a false callout of the fire brigade.

From a very small conventional system to a large, multi panel, networked addressable system with Voice alarms and integrated building services we can engineer a solution to fit your building and needs.

Plus all our alarms are installed to the highest standards and comply fully with British and European standards and industry best practice.

You can also rest assured that all of our systems can be configured for a Fire Brigade response.

But after installation, any fire alarm systems still needs to be maintained and we can do that as well, whether we installed it or not. If that's the case and you do have an existing system you may like us to maintain, invite Firefly to inspect it for free.

So keep with your legal requirements, under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order: 2005 and let us make it easy for you.

Fire Doors

Fire doors are taken for granted and their purpose is not always appreciated or fully understood. They are an integral part of any fire safety system, they help prevent fires from spreading wide within a building and fitting fire doors does save lives.

Your building is designed in compartments to contain, prevent, limit and slow down the spread of fire. But you still need to enter these compartments so we need special doors to preserve that compartmentation. Often though, people don't consider the safety function of a fire door and even wedge them open?

Fire doors have to be used properly for their intended purpose and it is a clear requirement under Building Regulations approved document "B' that they are inspected regularly too.

At Firefly we are authorised to provide that service. Ask us to inspect your fire doors or arrange service visits at regular intervals to ensure their maintainance.

Our inspection will cover:
Door certification ● Door frame ● Door Leaf ● Intumescent strips and seals ● Hinges ● Closers ● Locks and Latches ● Glazing and glass ● Gaps ● Threshold

FIRE DOORS SAVE LIVES, SIMPLE!

Emergency Lighting

Emergency lighting can be an overlooked part of your buildings fire safety systems.

The emergency lighting is installed to illuminate safe exit routes from a building and any hazards on the route in the event of electrical failure. Or in a fire, thick smoke and the need for swift, safe evacuation.

And did you know that the British Standards 5266, to which all emergency lighting should be installed, states that you should be doing monthly testing of emergency lighting, as well as annual Discharge testing?

Let us take the hassle out of that for you, we can provide a fully comprehensive service for emergency light testing and for keeping documentation. We can combine it with testing your fire alarm system and routine fire door maintenance for a fully comprehensive quality service.

Fire Risk Assessment

Fire Risk Assessment is fundamental in developing a fire safety strategy and complying with the legal obligations as an employer in the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order of 2005. By identifying the risks and addressing them, YOU may save LIVES. Simple!

If you occupy business premises it is very likely that you are required by law to carry out a fire risk assessment. The law requires the following buildings to have a fire risk risk assessment:-

  • Offices
  • Shops
  • Factories
  • Places of assembly, such as pubs and clubs
  • Theatres and cinemas
  • Hotels, guest houses and boarding houses
  • Houses in multiple occupation
  • Schools
  • Residential care homes and nursing homes
  • Blocks of flats

For any business employing 5 or more people within its premises the significant findings of any fire risk assessment has to be recorded and the law requires that the person carrying out the fire risk assessment must be 'competent' to do so.

A competent person is someone who has sufficient training, experience or knowledge and other qualities that allow them to perfom a proper fire risk assessment. Plus the level of competence required will depend on the complexity of the situation.

For that reason, if you do need help because nobody in your own organisation has the appropriate level of competence (which can include the employer themselves), Firefly Security (UK) Ltd can be your competent person.

And even if you believe there is a person of the proper 'competence', the time someone inexperienced might take to carry out a fire risk assessement may end up costing you more in lost working hours than using our service.

Our Firefly surveyor has years of experience in fire risk assessment and is a member of the Institute of Fire Engineers (IFE), who keep the register of accredited Fire Risk Assessors.

But in regard to fire risk assessment cost it depends on the type and size of the building, the complexity of the internal arrangements and processes being carried out in the building. And in addition we can also provide a detailed plan of the building to support the fire risk assessment, this would show fire safety provisions and outline the potential hazards.

However while price may vary, with a service fully in accordance to PAS79, the British Standard specification and methodology for carrying out fire risk assessments, Firefly always offer this facility at very cost effective rates.
